INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the online home of Project Plastic Soup and the David Rose Offshore Sailing Campaign.

The David Rose Offshore campaign, along with Project Plastic Soup has developed enough to warrant a voice of it’s own.

A bit of background, my name is David Rose, I’m based in Auckland, New Zealand and am currently in training and campaign and funding preparation to compete in a Class 40 both here in New Zealand and internationally in the Global Ocean Race. The racing will be predominantly double handed and my co skipper is Josh Tucker, an extremely experienced and exceptional sailor and general good guy.

One of the key sailing objectives of the campaign are to compete in the key New Zeland based offshore and coastal events then to be on the start line of the Global Ocean Race in 2011. The Global Ocean Race goes from Europe to Capetown, then Capetown to Wellington, New Zealand, Then New Zealand to Ilhabela in Brazil, then Ilhabela to Charleston in the USA, then back to Europe.

Our campaigns single organising idea is “An Inspiring Wake”

The heart of the campaign is a comprehensive awareness and education program around the global issue of plastics in our oceans, Project Plastic Soup.

By this we mean wherever we go, what ever we do as a team we always strive to leave something behind. This is based on the very comprehensive education programme we have developed on the major environmental issue of “Plastic Soup” all the plastics in the marine environment and what it is doing to the ecology, the life chain and us as human beings, what we can do to clean it up and prevent it getting worse in the future. As a secondary value, being a successful businessman and family man aged 42, through the enormous challenges and journey I am and will be going through to compete in these events and educate on Plastic Soup I personally want to motivate and inspire people to achieve their personal goals no matter what they are.

Thank you in for you interest and taking the time to read this blog, I look forward to keeping you updated with the goings on.

Best regards,
David

As a owner of a Farr 727 did I stumble on your site.
Immediately have I been drawn into you sailing adventures and like for what I see and read.
Keep it up the site has been added to my favorites.
Check out my site and perhaps we could do something together to the benefit of awareness of boat safety and ocean environment.

Go for it David
